Shawn Thornton to Play Game 600 Against the Bruins

Now Thornton is poised to play in his 600th NHL game — most likely Saturday night — against — who else? — the Bruins.

Getting there will make him just the third player to play more than 600 games in both the AHL and the NHL. It is exclusive company.

“That [stuff] doesn’t mean a ton to me, but it’s still pretty cool,” Thornton said Thursday. “I don’t know how many other guys are ever going to do it again. Nobody’s sucking it up for [605] games in the minors anymore, I don’t think.”
